It presents an automatic recognizing method capable of making out the reading on the measuring instrument panels which have multi pointers such as instruments for measuring water flux. The architecture and principle of the system are described. Image analysis algorithms are used to automatically determine the instrument readings. The maximum uncertainty in the detection of the pointer＇s position in analog instruments is less than the human eye can discriminate.
