Language is a social-semiotic system by which human experience is defined. It is not only a system of meanings but also a system that makes meanings, i.e., a semogenic system. Meaning is thus brought about by language. The energy by which this is achieved and the source of its semogenic power are grammar (Halliday 1994). In other words, grammar is a theory of human experience. It is a system by which we define reality and transform it into meaning. The actional processes of English language fall into two models: the transactional and the non-transactional. The former reflects the concern of human being about causality, while the latter neglects causality and constitutes a return to the primitive mind. The present study reveals that the non-transactive model plays an important role in constructing fantasy in fairy tales and captures a typical way of representing meaning in this genre.
