光缆是光纤通信中的重要组成部分之一，对其可靠性要求非常高。本文通过对光缆的故障树分析，找出影响光缆可靠性的主要原因，在设计和生产光缆时，为正确选择材料。

Fiber optic cable is one of the important parts in optical fibre communications system, its reliability must be high. In this paper, the author uses the method of fault tree analysis (FTA)to find the main reason which affects the reliability of fiber optic cables. Then a foundation for choosing materials , construction and technology properly during designing and producing fiber optic cables is given.
