1992年春,邓小平在南方谈话中,对于社会主义本质做出了“五句话”的概括。这一概括对于我们进一步理解和把握社会主义的本质具有重大的指导意义。但是,这一概括是以社会主义初级阶段理论为立论基础的,并不是对整个社会主义社会阶段的本质概括,对于“什么是社会主义,怎样建设社会主义”的问题也只是做出了初步的回答。客观地讲,这一本质论断只是社会主义本质在社会主义初级阶段的具体表现和反映。

In the spring of 1992, during the southern conversation, Deng Xiaoping made out the generalization for the socialism essence. It is very important to our further comprehending the socialism essence. But it is not an innate character for the whole socialismstage and is just the first step＇s answer for the problem that“what is the socialism and how develops socialism.？”because the eneralization is founded on the theory of the early stage. In nature,this generalization for the socialism essence is just a concrete performance or reflect of the socialism essence at the socialism early stage.
