A study on the application history and culture ecology of Longweiche

龙尾车的译介曾是晚明牵动人心的事件,详细考说它的译介过程和在清代的应用史之后,可以断定龙尾车在明末清初的译介方式是独特的,但应用情况与译者的初衷相距甚远。对此事的文化研究表明:外来器物能否被接受不是完全由其自身的技术水平所决定,而是取决于文化生态环境的性质。

The translation and introduction of Longweiehe had been an attention-getting event in later-Ming Dynasty. In this essay, the translation and introduction process of Longweiehe and it＇s application history in Qing Dynasty are explained in detail by textual research. Mthough it is believed that the method of translation and introduce is unique, the application is far from the translator＇s original intention. The culture research on this case shows that whether an exotic appliance can be accepted or not is not absolutely determined by the state of art, but properties of culture ecology at that time.
