That empirical research is the main method in the study of management science is put forward in this paper after analyzing the significant research achievements and factual applications in this field. The lack of using empirical research in management thesis in China is also mentioned. The application of empirical research in the study of management science is discussed, including： the kinds and characteristics of empirical research, the process of using it, the relationship between empirical and theoretical research, the techniques of using it and the methods to improve the output precision.
