关于“十年一贡”的争论——19世纪末晚清政府在缅甸问题上与英国的交涉

Disputes on “Paying Tribute Once Every Ten Years”: Negotiations between Late Qing Dynasty and Britain on the Status of Burma In Late 19^(th) Century

1885年底英国占领缅甸后,中国与英国就缅甸问题进行了交涉。中国最后与英国达成了英国统治下的缅甸每届十年向中国进献方物的协议。但在英国巩固了对缅甸的占领之后,废除了这一协定。这一协定从确立到废止,反映了中、英双方世界秩序理论的差异。

After Britain occupied Burma in the end of 1885, the Qing government resumed negotiations with Britain on the status of Burma. At last two sides came to an agreement that new Burma under British rule should pay native products as tribute to China once every ten years. But Britain abolished the agreement after consolidating its occupation in 1894. The initiation and abolition of this agreement showed the difference in the views of world order between China and Britain.
