徽州绩溪“四大胡氏”源流及其名人略说

Origin and Development of the 'Four Famous Hu Families' in Huizhou and Brief Introduction to the Famous Personages

皖南徽州绩溪县著姓胡氏,一般而言有“四大胡氏”,即通常所指的“明经胡氏”、“金紫胡氏”、“龙川胡氏”和“尚书胡氏”。它们同姓而不同宗,各有始祖,各有宗祠,且均名贤辈出、代不乏人,各以其独特的宗族文化著称于世。

Generally speaking, the famous family name Hu in Jixi County of Huizhou District in the south of Anhui represent‘Four Major Hui Families＇ , which are usually referred to as ‘Ming Jing Hu Family＇ ,‘ Jin Zi Hu Family＇ ,‘ Long Chuan Hu Family＇, and ‘Shang Shu Hu Family＇. They share the same family name, but they do not share the same clan ; they have their respective ancestors and ancestral temples. And famous and superior talents descended from these families come forth in large numbers, and there is no lack of them in each generation. Each of the four major families is well known for its distinctive familial culture.
