Since early 1980s, a more and more outstanding feature in international relations has been the deepening interdependence between different countries. This interdependence takes the form that countries intertwine in a lot of issues and has influenced national behaviour patterns and the redefinition of national interest. With the rapid development of economic globalization and Chinag further opening up, the interdependence between China and US has extended from economic areas into other areas such as traditional and untraditional security. This deepening interdependence ha.s made engagement and cooperation the mainstay of Sino - US relations and has contributed to the positive development of Sino - US relations.
