从语用优先语义看汉语文学作品的对话翻译——以《红楼梦》译本为例

Chinese Discourse Translation: The Priority of Pragmatic Equivalence to Semantic Equivalence——An Example for the Translation of A Dream of Red Mansions

根据“汉语语用优先语义”观点,把汉语人物对话语言译成英语时,除了力求语义方面效果的对等外,还要优先注意语用效果的对等:语用对等优先语义对等。译者考虑在译语中体现原语的言外之力,留心原文本中有意违背交际原则的地方,理解说话人的弦外之音,使原语和译语达到语用效果对等。

Based on the theory that Chinese is a language with pragmatic aspect prior to semantic aspect, more attention should be paid to pragmatic equivalence than semantic equivalence when dialogues in Chinese novels are put into English. Translators must consider how to reflect the illocutionary effect of the source language in the target language, pay attention to the language points where cooperative rules are deliberately violated in the source language, understand the speakers＇ implication so as to achieve the effect of pragmatic equivalence between the target language and the source language.
