In terms of Jnngian analytic psychology, there is one nature component of child within our mature personality, called child archetype. It yearns to be lighthearted and innocent, expecting the wonders of tomorrow, regardless of age. This part of our nature contributes greatly to our ability to sense playfulness in our lives, balancing the seriousness of adult responsibilities. There are many aspects of child archetype. The key of the developmental tendency of these aspects, positive or negative, is the relationship between child and mother or mother archetype. The therapeutic relationship emphasized as mother-child unity, the approaches how therapist understand client＇s sandplay process, and the representations of child archetype within sandtray, all of these are the important aspects of child archetype exhibition in sandplay therapy.
