Between "Cloud" and "Mud":On the Existential Significance of Wang Zeng-qi's Fiction

汪澎饔凶抛跃醯拇嬖谝馐?其人其文较好地诠释了这一点。文学观念上明净、和谐与痛苦、矛盾并存;创作上交织着田园、性灵与苦难、悲愁等争执抗辩的多样声音;而贯注其中的则是以大地为依托的或而高蹈或而沉重的生命精神。这一切,构筑了作家挣扎在“清云”与“泥淖”之间的“存在的历史”。

Wang Zeng -qi has a high sense of existential consciousness, which can be attested by both his personality and writings. His literary conception is characterized by the coexistence of crystal-clearness and harmony, pain and conflicts; his creation by the interweaving of various contesting voices of pastoral, life, suffering and sadness, etc. However, the earthbound life spirit, lightsome or weighty, runs through both his literary conception and creation. All the above forms “the existential history”of the author＇s struggle between “cloud” and “mud”.
