运用现代小说类型理论可将明代话本分为四种类型,即公案小说、爱情小说、灵怪小说和宗教小说,各种小说类型在内容和形式上各有其特征,在小说类型史上也各有其创新意义。

By adopting the theorys of modern novel types,this article divides the novels of the Ming Dynasty into four categories: legal case stories,love stories,deity stories and religious stories.An analysis is made from both content and form on the novel types and features,and also on their creative meaning.
