太平洋战争爆发后,蒋介石政权有二次收复港九地区的好机遇:一次是1942年的中英废除不平等条约的谈判,另一次是1945年日本投降。在这两次机遇中,蒋介石政权是尽了自己的最大的努力,但结果是令人失望的。究其责任,失败并不是由于蒋介石政权无能,而是由于收复港九地区的条件不成熟。蒋介石政权收复港九地区失败给我们最大的启示是,我们应该珍惜这来之不易的安定团结局面,努力建设社会主义祖国,增强国家的综合实力。

After Pacific War breaking out, Chiang Kai-shek＇s regime had two chances to recover Hong Kong. One was the negotiation to resign the unequal treaties between China and Britain in 1942, the other was in 1945 when Japan surrendered. In these two opportunities, Chiang Kai-shek＇s regime had tried their own greatest efforts best, though the result was disappointing. It was no business with Chiang Kai-shek＇s regime for unripe conditions. The fault was that Chiang Kai-shek＇s regime recovering Hong Kong givesus the most enlightenment we should treasure this hard-won stability and united situation , making great efforts to build the socialist motherland, strengthening the comprehensive strength of the country.
