北部湾近代交通事业的发展不但扩大了人们的交往范围及领域,而且作为现实生产力促进了区域经济的发展和近代经济的萌芽,加速了区域市场从单一化向多元化的发展,并通过中心城市等对周边各地产生幅射作用,使近代对外通道格局的出现由可能成为现实。这对今天北部湾走向东盟、走向世界仍产生了一定的影响。
