For flourishing NGN （next generation network）, a competitive price to performance ratio is important to the access gateway. The paper shows the self-designed the multi-function broadband gateway（MFGW） from application scenario, the key technologies, system design, QoS guarantee scheme and voice QoS simulation. It puts forward the total solutions for the access gateway.
