My Understanding of "Broadening the Scope of Democracy"

“扩大民主”的说法经不起推敲．如需“扩大”，就存在一个量的概念。民主作为政治制度，只有完善不完善的问题，没有多与少、大与小的问题，如果一味地强调“扩大民主”，就必然隐着对应的“缩小专制”的问题，这从理论到实践都是站不住脚的．

There are some weak spots in the saying of “broadening the scope of democracy ”. If something needs broadening, there should be a conception of guantity. Democracy as a political system does have a problem of being perfect or imperfect, but not a problem of being much or liltle, nor a problem of being big or small. Blind emphasis of “broadening the scope of democracy” will inevitably correspond to the implication of “narrowing the range of dictatorship”, which does not hold water either in theory or in practice.
