十届全国人大常委会第十七次会议于2005年8月28日审议通过的《中华人民共和国公证法》，将于2006年3月1日起正式实施。公证法是新中国第一部公证法典，它的颁布实施，必将充分发挥公证工作在全面建设小康社会、加快推进社会主义现代化建设、构建社会主义和谐社会中的职能作用．
The Standing Committee of the Tenth National People＇s Congress （NPC） reviewed and adopted the Law of Notarization of the People＇s Republic of China at its 17^th meeting on August 28, 2005. The Law of Notarization will go into effect on March 1, 2006. This law is the first law on public notarization in China. Its promulgation and entry into effect will inevitably contribute to giving full play to the role of notarization in full-scale development of a well-off society in China, acceleration and promotion of China＇s socialist modernization drive, and development of a harmonious society in the country.
