John Rawls' theory justice stages the aspect of periodic modification and transformation.. The article studies the establishment and transformation of his theory from the perspective of the western constitutional tradition . It thinks that the in-depth cause of its transformation lies in the in-built request of the justice principle on constitutional democratic system of government, and the essence of its theory is the justice of constitutionalism; meanwhile, the study is conductive to promote the understanding of the substance of political reason in modern western liberalism. At last, the study of the Rawls' constitutional justice should better serve the Chinese constitutional construction in its crucial transitional period.
