Product design is an important stage to determine the product performance. The study on design theory and method is significant for product design. The development history of design discipline is reviewed, the important thought influencing the development of design theory analyzed and the developing trend summarized. The suggestions for selection of compatible design theory and method are provided for the enterprises.
