Along with the continuous development of steel tube manufacturing technology and owing to the fact that more and more new tube mills are being put into operation, the defect types of hot-rolled seamless steel tubes are ever changing. Therefore it is required to accurately re-define the product quality defects. Involved in the article are related issues including the types and legends of quality defects of seamless steel tubes and the proposals related to establish defect atlas and defect criteria of the steel tube-making industry.
