Re-evaluation on making flexible use of words

某词活用后产生的新义与它活用前的意义间应有某种直接联系,活用与兼类并非完全对立,词义系统中任何一义项上都可能活用,也并非只有实词才可以活用。今人在理解活用时往往不明了这些,于是造成误解,有必要给以更明晰的阐释。

The new meaning of a certain word, after having been used flexibly, has some direct relationship with its previous meaning. Making flexible use of a word is not completely antagonistic to merger. Any item of a dictionary entry in the system of lexical meaning can be used flexibly and that the notional word can be used flexibly. Nowadays, people often do not understand it with regard to making flexible use, hence leading to misunderstanding. Therefore, it is necessary to give a more explicit exposition.
