On Pragmatic Failures in English Writing and Some Tentative Solutions

全文根据语用失误理论,以英语写作语言为研究对象,对英语写作语言中存在的语用语言失误和社交语用失误问题作了分析,说明了这类语言可能造成的负面交际效果,并结合写作教学提出了解决方案,强调了培养学生跨文化交际意识在英语写作教学中应有的地位。

This paper, according to the theory of pragmatic failures proposed by Thomas（1983）, briefly analyzes the pragmatic failures committed by English students in their writing languages. It illustrates their poor communicative effect due to these failures. In the end, some tentative solutions for the improvement of English writing are recommended, with the emphasis of that training students＇ cross- cultural awareness should have its proper position in the current teaching of English writing.
