2004年,全球苯乙烯的总生产能力约为25 880 kt/a,总消费量约为23 506 kt/a。预计2006年总消费量将达到约25 368 kt/a。2004年我国苯乙烯的总生产能力为1 190 kt/a,产量为985.7 kt/a,消费量约为3 866.1 kt/a,产不足需,每年都得大量进口。预计2005年和2010年我国苯乙烯的消费量将分别达到4 380 kt/a和5 600 kt/a。苯乙烯在我国发展前景广阔,今后我国应积极采用先进技术扩大装置的生产规模,以从根本上缓解我国苯乙烯的供需矛盾。

In 2004, the global production capacity of styrene was about 25,880kt/a and consumption was about 23506kt/a. It is forecasted that global consumption of styrene will reach 25,368kt/a in 2006. In 2004, the production capacity of styrene in China was 1190kt/a, total output was about 985.7kt/a , and consumption was about 3866.1 kt/a in 2004. The output could not meet the consumption demand, so vast quantities of styrene had to be imported every year. It is forecasted that the total consumption of styrene in China will reach about 4,380kt/a in 2005, and 5,600kt/a in 2010. Styrene has a bright development prospect in China, so it is proposed to expand production capacity of styrene plants with advanced technologies to essentially relieve the contradiction between styrene supply and demand in China.
