近代五邑侨乡“口供纸”探究

An Exploration of "Confession Papers" by Overseas Chinese of Modern Times from Wuyi

“口供纸”是起源于美国排华时期的一种移民资料,其使用一直延续到20世纪中期。它集中出现在有“美国华侨之乡”称谓的五邑侨乡,其中台山、开平最多。口供纸的运用是一个特殊时期的一种特殊国际移民形式。口供纸产生的背景和类型、制作方式独具特点,国内的华侨历史研究对此注意很少。

Confession papers were a kind of immigration information originated in the period of the exclusion of Chinese in the US and had been used until the middle of 20th century. They mostly appeared in Jiangmen Wuyi, “hometowns of Chinese overseas in American”, particularly Taishan and Kaiping. The use of confession papers was the result of a special form of immigrafion in a special period. The background, types and mode of making of the confession papers were unique, but they have got scant attention from domestic historians studying overseas Chines.
