Aim\ To evaluate the voltage time product of QRS complex in dignosis of left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH).\ Methods\ Standard 12 lead ECG was obtained in 41 control subjects without LVH and 42 patients with LVH. LVH was defined by echocardiographic criteria for evaluating the accuracy of the voltage(R Ⅰ+S Ⅲ and RV 5+SV 1), time(V 5 Lead QRS duration).\ Results\ Voltage time product of the QRS complex significantly improved sensitivity for the detection of LVH when compared with voltage criteria alone(47 6% vs 26 2%,P<0 05; 54 8% vs 33 3%,P<0 05). Sensitivity of voltage time product was significantly greater than that found for QRS duration alone(47 6% vs 21 4%,P<0 01; 54 8% vs 21 4% P<0 01).\ Conclusion\ The voltage time product of QRS complex in EKG is a simple methods for evaluating the LVH.
