The architecture and the advantages of the grid technique are introduced. Realizing the disadvantages of the traditional technology of video collection and compression, a new technology is developed in which the traditional technology has been improved and combined with the grid technique. It disassembles the task of video computing from a single-computer to multi-computer based on the function of distributed computation and resource sharing of the grid. Experiment has proved that the new technology has enabled the video collection and compression more effective and has shown the great advantages of the grid system.
