This paper briefly expounds the conceptions and contents of the sustainable production and the sustainable consumption, and starting from the relationship between the people and the nature and between the people and the people, discusses on that the sustainable consumption is the inevitable selection for constructing the eco-economy, and points out that the sustainable consumption must persist in the principles of the moderate consumption, fair consumption and people-based consumption for realizing ultimately the economic and social sustainable development.
