This paper expounds the history, development and present situation of VPN, compares and analyzes the application of several primary VPN techniques in MAN based on broadband IP, and points out that the superiorities of new VPN technique that is better than the traditional techniques in aspects of the network service quality and network business loader can provide the insertion of high-broadband users with chipper operation cost.
