The value ethics of the chonin class in the modern times functions as the promotion of trading capital ,and the acceleration of modern capitalism as well as modern orientation. The article explores and analyzes how the chonin＇s value ethics is compatible with the reform spirit in Japan＇s structural change from a feudal society to a modern capitalist one, and how they transform their social roles and value ethics in the process. It also reveals the formation and the characteristic of Japan＇s modern capitalist ethics.
