This thesis analyzes Maxine Hong Kingston's The Women Worrior, China Men and Tripmaster Monkey, in which the author expresses his aspiration for a cultural identity. Through the myth of Chinese Americans, heroic epic and parable of the society, Kingston' s writings combine Chinese traditional culture with their actual life in America and create their own cultural tradition so that they will be treated as a member of the country. Kingston' s view on culture identity plays an important role in the historv of Chinese American literature.
