It is said in Chapter 73 of Miraculous Pivot （灵枢·官能） that moxibustion should be used in case the acupuncture is not effective enough. Clinically at present, moxibustion is mainly applied to treat deficiency, cold, and yin syndromes in chronic diseases caused by deficiency of the yang qi and sinking of the middle jiao qi and it is also used for health care and longevity.
