Medicinal polyploid plants attract great attention because of their gigantic organs,high yields and important medicinal and economic values. The paper mainly deals with the chromosome-doubling method and mutagen types for medicinal plants and other factors affecting chromosome doubling. In addition,it introduces the characteristics and identification methods of medicinal plants ,and latest achievements obtained in chromosome doubling of medicinal plants in recent years.
