English Loaclization in China and the Implication to English Teaching

英语在中国的本土化表现在词汇、语篇、语音等诸方面,它对英语教学的启示主要有三点:一是从对外交流的内容上来看无需刻意地去遵守英美国家的文化习俗;二是在英语教学内容上应该包括能够表达中国特有事物的内容;三是无需花费大量的时间和精力去刻意模仿英国英语或美国英语的语音、语调。

The article discusses English localization in China and its characteristics in glossary, passage and pronunciation. Then, it indicates the implication of English localization to English teaching： it is not necessary to imitate sedulously the pronunciation and intonation of American and British English in foreign communication; English teaching should contain the knowledge expressing China＇s special things; it is also unnecessary to spend a large amount of time and energy in imitating sedulously the pronunciation and intonation of American and British English.
