The Color Purple is a prominent black feminist novel. In this novel,Alice Walker gives an examination of black women＇ s political condition and state of life under the racial and sexual oppression, their fighting against the double oppression and their search for the integrity of self and life from the theoretical perspective of black feminist criticism. This thesis tends to analyze the symbols in the novel so as to have a better understanding of the theme of the novel.
