This thesis probes into the origin of ＂woe as beauty ＂ in the metaphysics of Wei and Jin Dyansties： ＂woe＂has proceeded along the way from music into literary criticism. The concepts＂ woe＂ and＂ beauty＂ linking aesthetic experiences embody Wei and Jin personages＇ tapping on life in itself and mirror their pursuit for ideal personality.
