On Strengthening the Cross-culture Education in Foreign Language Teaching

外语教学的根本目的是为了实现跨文化交际。我国的英语教学比较重视语言知识体系的传授,却对跨文化交际能力的培养有所忽略,从教师的教、学生的学到教学资料的准备,都重视不够。提高学生的外语应用能力,必须加强外语教学中的跨文化教育。

The ultimate propose of foreign language teaching is the realization of cross-cultural communication. However, English teaching in China puts more emphasis on teaching the language knowledge itself, and little efforts are made to develop the learners＇ competence of cross-cultural communication. The issue is not taken seriously in the process of teaching and learning as well as the preparation of teaching materials. To improve students＇ ability of using English in practice, it .is essential to focus on cross-culture education in foreign language teaching.
