Grid computing is an important new technology. Database system is needed for managing the large amounts of data on the grid. In addition to introducing the research work relevant to database system on the grid, the paper discusses topics in grid database which includes grid database managemant system （DBMS）, grid database integration and new requirements of grid applications.
