Analysis of the Differences between English and Chinese Discourse Based on the Thinking Habits

本文基于对比研究方法,根据中西方的思维习惯的不同,分析了英汉语篇的三大差异:形合与意合,直线形与螺旋形,客体意识与主体意识。对英汉语篇差异深层次的认识,能使英语学习者有效避免母语思维的干扰,有助于写作、阅读及翻译水平的提高。

Using the method of contrast research, this essay analyzes the differences between English and Chinese discourse, based on the thinking habits of the Chinese and westerners. Three main differences are elaborated： hypotactic vs. paratactic, linear vs. spiral and subjectivity vs. objectivity. The understanding of these differences will help English learners improve their writing, reading and translation.
