Yuntaishan pyrite deposit is the exculsive of its kind in Jiangsu Province, it undertook a long course of exploration to cognition and from cognition to exploration again and till the discovery, reflecting the important role played by the fundamental geology and a synthetic research. The discovery of Yuntaishan pyrite tells us that we should emphasize fundamental geology and synthetic research in the exploration of mineral deposits. The authors conclude that the fundamental geology is the basic guarantee for the breakthrough of mineral exploration, and a synthetic research may help command external geological rules, guide geological exploration and improve performance effect.
