The most common polymer for this application is PET and the performance properties are largely determined by the fiber's denier and spatial configuration, the special fiberfill finish, fiber surface behavior and fiber bulk properties (i. e. resiliency). Critical to the basic technology was the development of finishes that provided a soft (no slipstick behavior), slick (low coefficient of friction) hand with desirable tactile properties. These, along with a range of supporting properties led to the development of the fiberfill market.
