林语堂的写作观和翻译观具有一致性,在其创作实践中也具有统一性。从“英文原著”《吾国与吾民》这部书中可以看出,林氏的翻译和写作相得益彰。这种成功模式对于我们今天的中译外工作和对外文化交流工作仍然具有积极指导意义。

Through this ease study of Lin＇s work, the author of the paper attempts to disclose the inherent ties between the master writer/translator＇s two- fold undertakings in the same work. There is a union of the writer＇s vision and the translator＇s vision in Lin＇s translation theory and in practice the two visions merge into this masterpiece seamlessly, complimenting each other. This model of success still has implications today for foreign translation of Chinese works and documents as well as for cultural exchanges with other countries.
