摘要 The location of GNBTYW (known from the Annals of Thutmose Ⅲ dealing with his 31st year of rule) is presently placed to the south of Egypt primarily because its inw (goods, products) were identical to products coming from Punt and because the relevant inscriptions seem to deal with southern regions. If this were the only choice, it would represent the best we could do and would have to remain at that. However, an alternative does exist, but it involves changing some long held ideas about GNBTYW and its relationship The location of GNBTYW (known from the Annals of Thutmose Ⅲ dealing with his 31st year of rule) is presently placed to the south of Egypt primarily because its inw (goods, products) were identical to products coming from Punt and because the relevant inscriptions Seem to deal with southern regions. If this were the only choice, it would represent the best we could do and would have to remain at that. However, an alternative does exist, but it involves changing some long held ideas about GNBTYW and its relationship to the Egypt of Thutmose Ⅲ. This paper will propose that GNBTYW be identified with the Old Babylonian Ganibatum located near the confluence of the Euphrates and Balih rivers. Reuniting these two entities will occupy the remainder of this study.
