Social Capital in Rural Community Deveiopment

社会资本的概念,在一些学者的推介下日趋流行,世界银行也将其纳入在资助的扶贫项目框架之内,国际扶贫机构世界宣明会把社会资本的概念引进在中国农村发展项目中,藉着参与式的扶贫开发,帮助社区建立社会资本,摆脱贫穷。

The concept of social capital has been popularized by various academics and has found application in a diversity of fields in social sciences. This paper describes a leading international NGO＇s attempt to apply it in fighting poverty in rural China. By incorporating the concept of social capital into various components of its community development program, social capital was built up as the community moved out of poverty.
