The Russian word “Eastern Turkestan”, which appears in Travels of the Russian Mission through Mongolia to China, and Residence in Peking, in the years 1820～1821 written by E. F. Timkovskii, is a vague geographical concept.Chinese scholars have some misunderstanding about the time of its appearance and derivation.
