摘要
唯识种子理论是关系唯识学整个理论存亡的关键,自其成立以来,就受到了来自各方的责难。从纯学理层面来看,种子不同种类的划分与种子本质的规定之间具有某些不可协调的成分,这种不协调的内容对我们如实理解种子的地位与作用带来一些难处,这种局面的产生可能与我们今天对唯识思想本身的内容未能全面、系统掌握有关。对今天的研究者来说,最合适的态度可能就是把唯识的理论,当作既有历史遗产接受下来,进行分析研究。
The theory of the seed of Consciousness-only is the key to decide the survival of the whole theory of Consciousness-only. It has been criticized ever since the establishment of this theory. In order to refuse this critique, distinguished monks offered many explanations through history. It still remains difficulty to explain in some respects in terms of doctrinal consistency in present time. This essay provides its own view through presenting those difficulties in different categories and in accordance with the tenet of the Buddha's teaching based on the relations between the seed and Dependent Origination and between the characteristic and definition of the seed itself.
