The Story ofAh Q is one of the most outstanding realistic works in the history of world literature. This paper makes a detailed analysis to his personality and concludes that Ah Q is a typical Chinese imbued with the Chinese ascetic culture. On the one hand, he believes in asceticism and acts as a defender of the Chinese ascetic cuhure; on the other hand, he is filled with sexual passion in his subconsciousness. In the violent conflict between spirit and flesh, and between superego and ego, Ah Q＇s sexual instinct is suppressed seriously, and his sexual psyche and behavior become abnormal and malposed.
