As an important philosophical category of the history of the western philosophy, the meaning of irrationality is not always accurately understood. In this essay, from theoretical and historical dimensionalities, the authors have reviewed irrationality and irrationalism, which are two tightly correlative conceptions, and they have concluded that irrationality is a conception that has both epistemological and ontological meanings.
