硬笔书法作为一种艺术门类而存在,但它却处于非常尴尬的“边缘化”境地。上世纪90年代我国经济体制的转型,西方现代文化思潮的渗透与影响以及商品经济和市场经济条件下人们价值观念的改变是产生这一状况的主要原因。硬笔书法边缘化的现状主要有以下几个方面:硬笔书法本身存在弱点;硬笔书法教学在各级学校中处于弱势地位;硬笔书法创作上过多受毛笔书法的影响;对作品外在美追求的偏颇以及硬笔书法理论研究不够系统和专业。

The hard-tipped writing instruments calligraphy as a type of art is now in a very awkward ＂ marginal＂ situation mainly due to the following reasons： First, the transformation of China＇s economic system, the infiltration and influence of western modern culture, as well as the changes in values in the commercial and market economy environment in the 1990s; Second, the disadvantage of hard-tipped writing instruments calligraphy itself and the negligence of it on part of schools at various levels ; Third, the creations are too much influenced by the brush calligraphy, which leads to the deviation of the pursuit of aesthetic appreciation, and the lack of theoretic research and the unsatisfactory status quo in this field.
