Issues and Trends of Higher Education Equity abroad

规模扩张是各国推进高等教育公平的重要策略,扩张虽然扩大了入学机会,但是结果却表明:扩张并没有扩大弱势群体的入学机会;学生的选择和学业保持常常是受到忽视的一个与高等教育公平有关的维度;学生的先前学术背景与能否接受高等教育和完成学业更为相关。许多国家推进高等教育公平的行动表明,解决高等教育公平问题不能仅仅集中于高等教育阶段,或仅仅集中于扩大入学机会,解决高等教育公平惟一长期的方法是综合、系统的方法。

In most countries ,an important strategy for achieving higher education equity is expansion. The results show that there has been rapid growth in enrollments with only limited progress on equalizing educational opportunities for disadvantaged groups;choice and persistence in higher education are often forgotten dimensions;the power of a student＇ s prior academic background overwhelms the predictive power of demographic variables in relation to college access and degree completion. There is growing recognition that equity in higher education cannot be solved only at that stage or by an exclusive focusing on educational access. A comprehensive and systematic approach to the pursuit of higher education equity must be taken.
